Bespoke Pieces and Jewellery Commissions
Ever wondered how to go about commissioning a beautiful piece of jewellery? Here you can see the 3 stages to go through when making a one of a kind piece.
Stage 1 - Design coversation
The first stage of any bespoke commission is to have a conversation with my customer. This way I can find out what is it the customer is looking for including important details such; as the occasion, do they have a particular date for the deadline? What size/scale does the piece need to be - particularly relevant when creating a ring? do they have a budget to work to? What metal would they like to use?
Asking questions around all of these factors helps to contribute to the unique design of a piece and ensure the customers needs are met.
Stage 2 - Begin Making
Once a design and price has been agreed with the customer, materials are ordered and I can set to work creating.
I love working closely with the customer to make something unique to them. Each time new challenges are presented creating interest within the making process
Please note: For all bespoke items a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to confirm the order.
Stage 3 - final piece
For me this is always the most exciting/nerve-racking part of the process. Hoping that the customer loves the pieces as much as I do. I always feel I am holding my breath until I see their response.
The final stage is of course the finished article. Once a piece has been finished, in some cases sized to fit, hallmarked and fully paid for, the customer can finally enjoy wearing their uniquely beautiful jewellery commission.
The whole process from concept to finished article usually takes around 4-6weeks. However, if you do have a special date in mind please do let me know and I will work to try and meet this where possible.
Currently with the restrictions around Covid-19, please assume a lead time of around 8 weeks.
